Tuesday, October 8th-Courtroom Conversation:Cleaning Up Vegas
Get the lowdown on such thought-provoking topics as the Jimmy Hoffa murder investigation, Chicago Mob connections to Las Vegas and the Hole-in-the-Wall burglary gang as part of wide-ranging discussions when The Mob Museum hosts its fall 2013 Courtroom Conversations, Cleaning Up Las Vegas, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 8.
The discussion, led by three panelists who held ringside seats to the action, will explore how our city managed to rid itself of the Mob element and other forms of corruption on the Strip during the 1970s-80s through analysis of the various crimes and individuals that came under the scrutiny of law enforcement, gaming control boards and the media.
“There is no better crash course around than The Mob Museum’s Courtroom Conversations to learn about the dynamics of Las Vegas politics, law enforcement, criminal history and the inner workings of the media,” says well-known Las Vegas author, columnist and speaker Jack Sheehan who will moderate the panel.
Panelists include Stanley Hunterton, longtime Las Vegas attorney who served as a Special Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Organized Crime Strike Force and as deputy chief counsel to the President’s Commission on Organized Crime in 1984-85; Jeffrey A. Silver, former member of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and Strip hotel-casino executive who also is a longtime Las Vegas attorney; and George Knapp, award-winning investigative reporter for KLAS-TV known for hard-hitting stories on corruption and bribery in Las Vegas.
