September 19: Free Monthly Community Safety Forums in Partnership with LVMPD and Sponsored by NV Energy
Sergeant Joshua Bitsko from Las Vegas Metro will discuss “K-9 Operations” Saturday, September 19, from 1-2 p.m. as part of The Mob Museum and LVMPD partnership program, Community Safety Forum. He also will bring his K-9 partner Loki to demonstrate K-9 Operations.
The LVMPD K-9 Detail consists of sixteen officers and twenty-five dogs. Fourteen are patrol dogs, trained to locate human scent. These dogs search for suspects, lost victims, and evidence that the suspect may have discarded. Historically, the nighttime hours are where the biggest volume of calls are where K-9 assistance is needed. The most common use of K-9 Patrol Dog Teams involves searching for suspects who have fled on foot and “escaped”.
Free Admission to The Mob Museum following the event to guests attending Community Safety Forums sponsored by NV Energy. Also thanks to NV Energy’s generous support, The Mob Museum will provide live streaming of the presentations on our website.
This program is part of a joint Mob Museum-Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department partnership, sponsored by NV Energy, presenting a series of Monthly Community Safety Forums Saturdays through 2015.
Future programming includes:
- October 17: Missing Persons
- November 21: Metro Volunteer Program
- December 19: Emergency Preparedness
