Tuesdays in May: Guided tours on the history of law enforcement

In honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Month, The Mob Museum will offer special special guided tours on the history of law enforcement every Tuesday evening from 6-7:30 p.m., May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Guided tours are $10 per person on top of regular admission.

Tours will highlight law enforcement’s fight against organized crime, the advances that have been made in the last century and some of the contributions of the people in all sides of law enforcement. Information about historical and current law enforcement officials will be part of the tours, including details about:

• J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924-1972
• Eliot Ness, an American Prohibition agent and leader of a team of law enforcement agents nicknamed The Untouchables
• Elmer Irey, director of the Internal Revenue Service’s lead investigative unit during the federal tax evasion prosecution of Chicago mobster Al Capone
• Joe Pistone, alias Donnie Brasco, a former FBI agent who worked undercover infiltrating the Bonanno crime family and to a lesser extent the Colombo crime family
• Joseph Petrosino, the first law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty fighting the Mob
• Eunice Carter, an attorney in the New York District Attorney’s office who helped bring down Lucky Luciano
• Jack Garcia, an undercover agent with the Gambino family who was the 2^nd FBI agent to be offered to be made a made man.
