For decades, the Yakuza have ruled Japan’s underworld.
The group is involved in an array of criminal enterprises – from loan sharking and prostitution to extortion and human trafficking. James Stern, Yakuza expert and retired FBI agent, went undercover in Hawaii resulting in the first-ever arrest, indictment and conviction of a Japanese crime boss in U.S. law enforcement history.
In this program, Stern will shed light on:
- The Yakuza’s origins
- Its unique traditions and rituals
- How law enforcement has reduced the syndicate’s influence.
