Interest in forensic science has skyrocketed in recent years in large part because of its featured role in numerous popular TV crime series. Scott and Sara Lautzenheiser, teachers at Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy in Las Vegas, will discuss forensic science for those interested in pursuing careers in the field. They also will highlight a recent school project in which students were tasked with investigating 60 unidentified John and Jane Doe cases.

This program will take place in the Oscar B. Goodman room.

Sara Lautzenheiser  

Sara Lautzenheiser

Sara Lautzenheiser is a Forensic Science and AP Biology teacher at Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy. She has been a teacher in the Clark County School District for 16 years. Sara received a B.S. in Microbiology from Michigan State University, a M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from UNLV, and a M.A.S. in Biology from UNLV.

Scott Lautzenheiser  

Scott Lautzenheiser

Scott Lautzenheiser is a Forensic Science teacher at Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy. He has been a teacher in the Clark County School District for ten years. Scott is also a part time Coroner Investigator for the Clark County Office of the Coroner and Medical Examiner. He has been investigating death scenes for 15 years. Scott received a B.A. in Anthropology and a M.Ed. in Special Education from UNLV.
