THE MOB MUSEUM HOSTS THE LUFTHANSA HEIST: AN AUTHOR TALK WITH DANIEL SIMONE, TUESDAY, JANUARY 12

LAS VEGAS (December 2015) – The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, hosts an Author Talk on Tuesday, January 12, with Daniel Simone. He will discuss his book, “The Lufthansa Heist,” at 1 p.m. and a book signing will follow. The event is free for Museum Members and free with Museum admission for the general public.

Simone will discuss the infamous Lufthansa heist from an insider’s perspective. He co-authored the book with the late Henry Hill, who claimed to be associated with New York’s Lucchese crime family and was a participant in the heist scheme. The crime represents the largest, never-recovered cash haul in history and inspired Martin Scorsese’s 1990 film, “Goodfellas.”

About the Lufthansa Heist

On December 11, 1978, more than $6 million in cash and jewelry was stolen in a daring armed robbery that rocked John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City and continues to baffle law enforcement to this day. The burglary has fascinated the public for years, yet no perpetrators have ever been found guilty. On November 12, 2015, the heist returned to the news when Vincent Asaro, another mobster linked to the crime, was found not guilty of racketeering and other charges in connection with the robbery. Adding further intrigue to the saga, 13 people connected to the crime have been murdered in homicides that, like the Lufthansa heist itself, remain unsolved.
