MEDIA ALERT VICTIMS’ ADVOCATES: LVMPD TO PRESENT COMMUNITY SAFETY FORUM AT THE MOB MUSEUM SUNDAY, MAY 15, 2 – 3 P.M.

WHAT:

The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, partners with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) to host May’s Community Safety Forum on the topic of Victims’ Advocates.  The event is sponsored by NV Energy. For those unable to attend, the presentation will be live-streamed on themobmuseum.org.

At this forum, attendees will learn about the variety of jobs performed by Metro’s Victims Services Detail, including:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Victims’ support
  • Referrals
  • Encouraging safety practices to reduce the likelihood of future victimization
  • Education and empowerment

In addition, the presentation will cover the various types of victims and the specific resources available to each one, as well as overall strategies to avoid becoming a victim.
